Plot: The film is based on the 1998 French comedy Le Diner de Cons (Dinner of Idiots), which was known in English as The Dinner Game. The plot is the same: a wealthy editor holds a competition every week with his friends and subordinates to see who can bring the dumbest person they can find to dinner. Carell stars as one of the schmucks, and Paul Rudd is the guy who invites him to dinner — only to find that Carell slowly begins to ruin his life. (Bruce Greenwood shows up as the editor.)
